Store-bought play dough is great for a range of colours but it can actually be a lot of fun for children to be involved in making their own play dough.
If you have very young children or children with sensory issues (like my children!) then homemade play dough often works much better when it ends up in their mouths!
This recipe is easy to make and doesn't take long either.
Mix all the ingredients together (see list below) and warm over medium heat until it all clumps together to form a dough. Turn on to baking paper and let cool a little. When cooled, knead into a dough and cut into pieces. Roll the dough and make a small hole with your finger to add the colour. Mix and you're done.
I added peppermint essence to my play dough but if you want to do this, do not put in as much oil (as the mixture can become too oily).
There are so many ideas for using play dough such as these Christmas Tree mats. Use some Christmas oils in your play dough such as pepper oil, cinnamon or similar oils to create a wonderful Christmas feel to these activities.
